This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” -Dr. Seuss I want my students to take that quote with them and become life-long readers and learners

My 8 students all fall somewhere on the Autism Spectrum and the school they attend is located in a low-income neighborhood.

My students, regardless of their abilities, enjoy coming to school and learning. They enjoy read alouds and any activities that involve manipulative's.

My Project

Our current classroom library currently has no place where students can sit and enjoy their book/magazine. Not only do they not have a carpet or any furniture for the library, they also lack the enriching books and literature that we all fell in love with during our school years. I want to introduce them to authors such as Mem Fox, Dr. Seuss and Eric Carle. I want them to LOVE spending time in the library and foster in them a LOVE for reading.

I believe that this project will not only benefit my current students but it will benefit future students.

I want to encourage all students to become life long readers. A love for reading can open up so many opportunities in and out of the classroom.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
