MAKE A DIFFERENCE!! As we ALL know education has been hit financially in every aspect. Our school is large and we do not have enough computers for our children to meet their quarterly reading goals. My students WANT to know what it is like to achieve success! Please help us WIN a computer!

WOW!

My students are so eager and excited for this school year. This is a year for students to grow in so many ways. My kiddos want to achieve on a personal and academic level; however, our technology resources within our classroom are limited. My classroom is diverse. They come from all walks of life. Regardless of their background, my classroom is a safe environment for all of my students. We are a TEAM and we help one another grow. We have a community within our classroom which allows us to take risks and know that no matter what we will learn and grow. My students want the opportunity and resources to increase their knowledge!

My Project

The computer we are asking for is a small version of a laptop. This will allow our students to take reading tests, play educational math and phonics games. Technology is a vast growing part of education. This allows students to practice specific skills in a new and exciting way. Most of the recent research articles I've read on technology and classroom learning conclude not only that there is an increase in student achievement in technology rich classroom environments, but also an increase in student motivation, especially among at risk students. In addition, the ability to engage students in many different types of activities is another advantage of technology in the classroom. There is an enormous selection of educational software available across all content areas. There is an abundance of software available to download at no cost. I've had students research famous Americans and create timelines.

KNOWLEDGE is success!

For some of my students this is the place where they know their peers and teachers BELIEVE in their potential. If we had one more computer in our classroom this will help each child meet their reading goals. This would allow each child the opportunity to improve their reading skills and knowledge for their future. This will help my struggling readers feel more confident and learn to love reading.
