My Students

This amazing work opens the world of literature up to our college going students. It is smart and academic and allows for them to use the skills they will need to analyze literature along their educational path. It allows them to read any book they choose and think critically about it.

Our students are first generation college goers who are part of a revolutionary early college high school.

We don't have funds for books although we do our best and I really want them to get this title under their belts. Our students have often been given the short shrift and need to have that change for them.

My Project

This book is truly an inspiration. It inspires students to read and to analyze the works they are reading. It provides them with skills in a funny, endearing manner that is also quite scholarly. It gives them a huge range of background texts that they have not had access to in their lives and often inspires them to go on to read more and more classics.

This project will help our students to not only succeed at their high school level but to continue in their college English courses.

It also brings a love of reading and analysis back to the classroom, something often spurned by other texts we assign.
