My Students

Imagine the damage done to your hair when using hairspray. Modern digital microscopy can bring these images to the students. In addition to the images, which can be found under a regular microscope, digital microscopes allow us to measure and show changes.

Our School is a 5th through 8th grade facility in Central Illinois.

The students are more than 70% free and reduced lunch, with most of our families living below the average income for the area. Our students are hard working individuals who typically meet higher than average expectations with fewer resources. We are gaining on the technology front, but items such as a digital microscope are not on the menu.

My Project

A digital microscope can open up the world of the things the eye cannot see. It will add to the classroom environment by allowing demonstrations that everyone can see and participate in. Additionally, a tool like this will enhance our science fair program, allowing students to not only see what they are researching, but measure and show changes.

Donations to this project will bring another dimension to the use of microscopes in the classroom.

Students using the Digital Microscope will now be able to go beyond just viewing. We can now manipulate and show changes to whatever it is we are working with.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
