My Students

The students of today are hands-on learners. They need interaction and experience to really understand and gain concepts! A simple lecture and video is not enough they need more!

My students are very diverse, they come from different cultures, backgrounds and even countries.

Even with all the differences these students have, they get along well and are very accepting of each others' differences. My students are hands-on learners, they need to see and experience. They enjoy getting up out of their seat and doing!

My Project

We are a public school with little funding going toward the non-core subject areas. When I started teaching health 3 years ago at this school there were absolutely no resources and the textbook the school provided was from 1994. We still do not have an up-to-date book but we are gradually building resources to help these students get a quality education in the aspect of health. At the moment our health curriculum only includes an overview of alcohol. I want to build the curriculum to really drive home what drinking can do. I want my students to see the the negatives about alcohol and how drinking and driving can destroy lives. With this alcohol education kit, my students can join in an interactive lesson and experience what alcohol and driving can do. I was able to purchase a DUI video and these materials in this kit would greatly compliment the video and current curriculum.

Last spring our school brought in a guest speaker that talked about how losing his family to a drunk driver has impacted his life.

He had a very powerful and inspiring message. I want to really focus on helping my students understand the dangers of drinking and driving through a fun and interactive experience. Please help my students learn to make appropriate positive choices!
