My Students

In this era of emerging technological tools, let's not let our students be left behind. Students need to experience current technological tools such as interactive panels and document cameras in order to stay technologically literate in this fast-paced, ever-changing world.

The small, rural high school I teach at serves an abundance of economically disadvantaged students.

My 10th graders need every advantage and opportunity they can get to graduate with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in a world saturated with technology. Many of the classrooms in my school still have only textbooks and chalkboards as the primary instructional tools. Most of the somewhat up-to-date technological tools, such as projectors, that are present in my school were bought by teachers (including myself) with their own limited personal funds. There are a couple of computer labs that get booked quickly and are hard to get my students into when I need to. My students need to have current technological tools available right in their own classroom that they can interact with on a daily basis. Interactive panels and document cameras, like what I've requested, are great tools for fostering tech-savvy students who are excited about and involved in their own learning.

My Project

The tools I've requested will allow my students to explore new worlds at the touch of a stylus. They will be able to participate in webquests, present new learning to their peers in a puzzle learning format, and access the Internet and multiple software applications right from their desks (without having to hope for limited computer lab availability in order to do these things). The interactive panel is wireless and can be easily passed around the classroom to students. The more my students interact with the panel, the document camera, and other technological tools... the more prepared they will be for the world they will soon become a part of upon graduation.

Please don't allow the i-generation to continue to be taught with stone age tools.

Infuse learning with appropriate technology by supporting this project. Students must interact with current technology on a daily basis; they need technological tools to be available in the classroom.
