My Students

We are a historically underfunded and under-performing school, but I PROMISE to give my students the best AP course I can...with your help! This is a time of great change in the Philadelphia school system, all eyes will be on us.

These students are from high-poverty homes.

The school is falling apart, but teacher and student morale is exceptionally high. The kids are talented, humorous, gifted students with an innate drive to do better, to strive for more. They are college-bound and deserve the best college materials.

My Project

Our English book closet is a mess. While we have some classics, we are sorely lacking in critical contemporary texts found on the AP exam. "Jarhead" and "Atonement" are not only books that my students will find interesting, but these texts might just be the push they need to get into college. Both books will inspire a grand level of inquiry and a simple love of reading. If my students can score better than a "4" on the exam, they will have gained three college credits. This is an amazing incentive!

I commute every day to Philadelphia from outside New York City to teach these bright individuals.

I unfortunately do not have much money because of gas and tolls, but I do have love. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I must travel the 90 minutes to teach them AP Lit, but it truly is worth my time. I hope it is worth your donation.
