My Students

Technology is everywhere! Let's put it in the hands of kindergarten students. A Flip Camera is a fun way for students to get involved in their own learning and maybe even some teaching.

My students attend a public school in the heart of our city.

Because we are downtown, we have a large amount of students whose families are at or below the poverty level. Our school is considered a total Title One school, meaning that most of our students receive free or reduced lunches.

My Project

Technology is all around us. The earlier our children learn about the uses of technology and feel comfortable with it, the more successful their futures will be. A Flip Camera would have a wide variety of uses in our classroom. As a teacher, I can use it to track ongoing student progress by recording a running record of reading, charting fluency, and SHOWING students how much progress they have made. I can also conduct student interviews to share at a later time, create virtual field trips, and interview community helpers for virtual "guest speakers". Students can become teachers by narrating field trips, creating literature based skits, modeling correct behaviors, and doing weekly "news reports" for our class web-page. Working families could still enjoy parties, special events, field trips that are narrated by the students, and class performances as they would be posted to our class web-page for viewing.

When donating toward our project, you are giving these children a chance to use and understand technology.

The students will complete many of the same activities as they have in the past, but with a new sense of pride and accomplishment.
