Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Come and read with us! Our school district is moving toward a reading workshop model. To embrace this new literary challenge, our classroom needs help in building an extensive leveled library of books that will provide each and every child with CHOICE! Help us continue our love of reading!

Our district is the largest suburban district in the state.

We are a low income district comprised primarily of Hispanic and African American students. The majority of students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Parental support and involvement is hard to come by. My school houses about 1100 students in grades kindergarten through fifth.

My Project

Since the core of a reading workshop is reading, a quality classroom library is essential to its success! Through your generous donations, my students will be on the path to becoming lifelong readers! By helping us build our classroom library filled with a multitude of various books, you will help to develop a reading community in our classroom. Students will engage in book talks, keep reading logs, and just love reading! Providing the students with choice and selection is what a reading workshop is all about.

Children benefit from a workshop approach to reading.

They require choices in reading material that include a variety of genres and reading levels. When students learn to make choices, they choose to read outside of school as well as at school. Teachers can better meet the diverse needs of students using a workshop model. Please consider helping me meet my students' needs!
