My Students

"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." by Dr. Seuss. This is my class motto, and want my students to learn to read so they will go places in life.

My students face many obstacles, challenges, and statistics, we are the kindergarten inclusion classroom.

They are special needs, low income, military students. They face many challenges, they have learning disabilities to overcome, along with being a part of a military family, with dads/moms gone fighting in a war zone, along with being low income. They have a lot of obstacles, and statistics to battle. However, they are up for the challenge and so am I. I have a wonderful, vibrant group of students who are eager to learn, ready to face their challenges with their heads up high and take on the world of reading, which all begins in Kindergarten. We are going to be hooked on phonics so we can become life long learners. We are going to prove research wrong and fight for our right to become life long readers.

My Project

Research shows that reading begins with good strong phonics skills. This is why I am asking for phonics resources for my classroom. The resources I am asking for are good hands on, independent activities that my students can participate in to build and grow their phonics skills. I will be able to use the resources in small group settings where I will be able to focus my attention on individual students' needs. I will also be able to use them in a whole group setting where all students can work together to learn a skill. The resources will also be used in learning centers, where I can differentiate the level of learning, where the student can independently work at their skill level. Allowing my students to have all of these resource provides ample opportunities to grow, build, and master their phonics skills, which allows for them to build early literacy skills, which in the end, they become strong life long readers.

Donations will make the difference for my students lives.

They have many statistics and obstacles to overcome. I want them to have the opportunity to become life long readers, which in the end will provide them with a life of happiness, strength of mind, and a purpose and not have to fight or overcome statistics or obstacles. To achieve success, we must succeed in learning and it all begins in Kindergarten.
