My Students

Nowhere to sit in our classroom. I currently started teaching at a new school. However there are not enough chairs for our classroom.

I teach at a Title One school where 93 percent of my students are on free or reduced lunch.

Due to decreased funding there is not money for activities or centers. Apart from the money set aside for school supplies there is not way to get items for my classroom unless they are paid for out of pocket.

My Project

I would like to purchase six student size chairs for my classroom. Each day we do our Daily Five reading program. During this time the students rotate to different stations/centers throughout the room. I work with a group at the front of the room. My assistant pulls groups of kids to work with her at the table at the back of the room. However,we do not have any chairs for our round table. Every time a new group of kids come to work with her they have to drag their chairs to the back of the room and then drag them back again when the rotation is over. Our center rotations are only twenty minutes long so this cuts into valuable center time.

By purchasing chairs for our classroom you will help my students have a place to work in their small groups.

It will also help us save time from having to switch chairs each time the students go to a new center throughout the morning.
