My Students

A team that comes together can accomplish just about any objective when they cooperate to brainstorm different scenarios aimed at achieving goals. Students have a hard time to see the importance of working together as a team. Everyone benefits from effective team players.

I work with 60-70 students in a poverty area.

The students have to school. Our mission is to identify students who face barriers to education, and to guide each one on to a successful path toward continued education, a meaningful career, and productive adulthood. In order for me to help my students, I need for them to learn the importance of team work. Not only do I provide my students with team-building activities but my high school students work with the surrounding elementary students to put on team-building days. We create and design our activities but the value in the items I am requesting would provide a better learning experience for many students. I am invested into my students. Team-building is an important factor in any environment. My focus is to specialize in bringing out the best in a team, to ensure self development, positive communication, leadership skills and the ability to work closely together as a team to problem solve. I sure hope you are able to fund this request.

My Project

My students would benefit from the items I am requesting because the team-building items are interactive, fun, and excellent learning tools for the students. The students need some "fun" in their education. They need to have that certain link to education. These activities/cooperative games are wonderful way to enhance communication skills, leadership skills, and problem solving skills. Good students and good employees are excellent team players. Effective team building activities helps the students to learn more about themselves and their strengths and weaknesses. Students are then able to identify and utilize the strengths of their peers. Employers struggle with finding good employees. In my interactions and conversations with employers, they feel that HS students lack in many "soft" skills such as effective communication, problem solving, and critical thinking. The cooperative learning activities that I am hoping would be purchased would enhance employability skills and self esteem.

The items I selected would have a positive impact on the students because it would provide them with learning opportunities on how to build their cooperative learning and critical thinking skills.

It would encourage them to want to better themselves and their leadership abilities. Most of the students lack in self esteem. When they are able to complete a team building task, they finally have a feeling of accomplishment. For many of the students I teach, this is a big accomplishment. Thank you!
