My Students

My students need additional calculators to use for our Math class, and MAP test. I'd like a TV for my classroom to show educational material, current events and watch projects that we create in class. We don't currently have one. We use expo markers on dry erase boards to check for understanding.

My students are 7th-8th grade Math students some are advanced in Pre-Algebra, and Algebra.

Our Algebra is considered a high school level course and it requires the use of a scientific calculator like this one. We are a very high poverty rural area school in Missouri. They attend over a 70 year old school building with hardly any renovations, and it is in bad shape. It's a public school in a small town within Missouri. I also teach a 6th grade Character Ed/Keyboarding class that I'd like to show educational videos to them, create project movies, and we would like to watch them on a TV. We currently have to arrange to borrow a TV from the library, and it's difficult. The library isn't in our MS building. It would be a huge benefit to these students to have a TV in the classroom available to them accessibly. We would use the expo markers for each student to use with their dry erase board. This helps me check for understanding to see if they need extra help.

My Project

These calculators will give students the advantage to be able to be successful on their achievement tests, and be able to take them home at times to do their homework. This will help them become more familiar with Math and the advanced level classes that they are offered to take. This gives students the opportunity to be able to solve higher level equations, and advanced math problems. This will give students a chance to become more familiar with the calculators, and they can check them out at their convenience to do homework. The TV would benefit the students so they would be able stay up with current events, watch educational videos on character education, and many other learning channels that are available. We could use the expo markers every year, since we have had budget cuts it's difficult for me to supply them every year. The kids love learning this way, and it keeps them more engaged in the classroom and they tend to learn while having fun!

This will make our end of the year testing run so much smoother, and less stressful.

We are short every year calculators and we need them to use at test time. Some students use the older version calculators that don't have higher level functions on them, and it makes it difficult and stressful on the students when it comes test time. This wold be a huge impact. My students would greatly benefit from a TV, they would be taught character education, current events, and keyboarding skills w/project
