This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The premise of running is simple: move forward with belief and clarity. As a student, belief and clarity were two things I needed help in developing in order to make me a success in both my academics and life. My students desire to work toward these principles in order to enrich their lives.

My students attend a public charter school in Texas whose mission is to enrich both the mind and body.

My kids are driven to succeed in life; it is my goal to give them the requisite skills within my English class and on the road, as they run down their dreams and actualize their beautiful futures.

My Project

As runners, our bodies take a tremendous pounding. I intend to incorporate year long core and agility training to keep my runners healthy and limber for their road races. My primary way in maintaining the health of my runners will be through the use of yoga and other core building exercises. Yoga mats will allow us to properly and comfortably perform the necessary exercises that will build joint strength, flexibility, and the body's ability to recover more quickly from the demands of running. My students will learn how to properly care for their bodies while safely pushing their limits as runners.

Donations to this request will significantly make a difference in the following way: you will allow me the opportunity to change lifestyle habits for my kids.

Many of my students come from communities where physical well being is not highly prioritized. Your donations will help me lay the foundation for what I believe will be a life long transformation toward health in both mind, body, and spirit.
