My Students

Have you ever searched for a word in the dictionary and not be able to find it? My classroom set of dictionaries was printed in 1986 and it is very difficult to conduct a word study class with them. It is time for a new updated set.

My school sits in the country between two rural Oklahoma towns.

We average fifteen - twenty students per grade level and our students traditionally do very well on state mandated testing. In Language Arts, our students love to read and write and are constantly authoring original stories and poems.

My Project

In a recent lesson discussing prefixes we discovered that our set of dictionaries did not include definitions for prefixes or suffixes. Several of the dictionaries are missing front and back covers as well as inside pages. With a new set of dictionaries we will be able to study words properly and the students will develop richer vocabularies.

It is very difficult to learn and use new words with a classroom set of dictionaries that is too small, old, and damaged for the students to use.

The best way to ensure the success of any job is too begin with the proper tools.
