Gifted ELA Needs A Gift

My students need 10 copies of "The Mysterious Benedict Society" as well as the audio version of the novel.

My Students

Reading a good book is such an escape...like entering another world. But what if, in that world, all of the characters were like you?!

I teach three two-hour blocks of Sixth-Eighth grade gifted reading and English.

My classes are very small, the largest being seven students. I have the greatest kids ever, but resources are slim. And when teaching the same kids three years in a row...one needs resources.

My Project

I am requesting that some wonderful person, or persons, help me to get a class set of the novel "The Mysterious Benedict Society". The characters in this book are all gifted students, so this novel would be so perfect for my students. Also, there are three books in the series which would allow us to do one each year that these students are in my class. We also need the audio version of the novel.

Besides the obvious benefits of reading a novel in reading class, allowing these students to read about other gifted students will help them relate to the characters and even teach them a little bit about themselves.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
