Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a first grade teacher with twenty six children in front of me at any given time. It is very difficult to ensure that all children are focused and on the same page as me. An Elmo would assist me in this task allowing students to follow the lesson.

My students are six and seven years old and are in the first grade.

At this age they still enjoy coming to school and are eager to learn but have many needs. Our school is a large inner city school with approximately one thousand students. Many of the students are second language learners and would benefit from the visual assistance that an Elmo would provide.

My Project

When I heard about the Elmo I was so excited. With twenty six children and no help it is impossible to ensure every child is where he/she should be. With the Elmo, I can face them directly showing them where they need to be without interrupting the flow of the lesson. Even my most naive children can follow me when instructed with this amazing tool.

Many colleagues in my building have an Elmo and I have seen them do wonderful things with it.

This very useful tool has enabled them to reach many more of their students and my students deserve this opportunity as well. I would be so grateful to be funded for this teaching tool. Hundreds of children will benefit over many years to come. Thank you so much for considering this proposal.
