My Students

Do you remember your Kindergarten classroom/experiences? Kindergarten students today are expected to read and write independently by the end of Kindergarten. It is my job as a Kindergarten teacher to develop and teach lessons which motivate my students and lead to mastery of skills.

My classroom consists of (25) five year olds who attend full day Kindergarten in an urban setting.

Last year, 67% of the students at my school were eligible for free or reduced price lunch. 13% of the students received English Language Learner services (ELL) because their home language was something other than English.

My Project

I am a firm believer in making learning fun so that my students foster a love of learning and become life-long learners. These bean bags will provide hands-on exploration of letter sounds. My students will master letter sounds as they have fun searching inside the beads to find miniature toys that begin with each letter of the alphabet.

Kindergarten students will enjoy exploring these alphabet bean bags in pairs or small groups to reinforce their mastery of letter sounds.

ELL students will also increase their vocabulary and language skills as they participate/communicate with their peers while participating in this activity. It is my hope that I will be able to enrich my student's learning with your helpful donation.
