My Students

Cheesecake Anyone???? ProStart Culinary Arts students are taking on the challenge of an entrepreneurship project with a minimum of 10 pans currently in the department. They need 20 to mass produce their sales within the community. They will also be utilized throughout the year.

Our students are excited about our culinary arts program.

I always have more students wanting into our program than I can get into it. The students in this program will utilize the ServSafe Food Handling and receive Safe Food Handler's certification through our local health department. The students are required to pass ProStart I and II certification exams through the National Restaurant Association allowing them to be more industry ready upon graduation. Our ProStart students in our high school in Missouri utilize a program with curriculum from the National Restaurant Association. Our students matriculate up to 6 hours credit with a local community college's culinary arts program. The students utilize industry guidelines regarding uniforms and industry equipment. It is amazing to see the way our students have progressed over the past five years that we have had the program.

My Project

My students need 20 springform pans to complete an entrepreneurship project within our ProStart Culinary Arts program filling orders for their business project. Students from our program will cater and serve our entire AFJ ROTC Military Ball this year, as well as our local College Fair, a local Daughters of the American Revolution luncheon and many other functions. Cheesecake is typically a part of our menu at many of these events. Cheesecake Anyone??? will allow our students to take this project further offering orders of our cheesecakes throughout the community. Students will utilize our FCCLA STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) Competition Event category of Entrepreneurship. The category will enable the students to complete the cheesecake sales while utilizing business standards and guidelines. It will allow students to problem solve to keep their business in a profit margin. Students learn when they are able to simulate a real world industry experience.

Cheesecake Anyone??? will give our students a chance to showcase our program, their talents and develop community ownership while utilizing food service industry skills.
