My Students

Help my students discover their place in an ever changing world by providing them with the tools to investigate their own state-Illinois, the rest of United States, state capitals, and important land features as they navigate the exciting world of U.S. geography/history!

My 4th grade class consists of students who come from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds; many of which come from non-English speaking homes.

Free or reduced lunch is provided for more than half of my students. The essential cultural enrichment that is a necessary factor in fostering a well-rounded individual is not adequately provided for the majority of my students beyond the classroom walls. Many of my students are slow in meeting academic standards and thus, will benefit tremendously from additional hands-on resources; which will engage their intellectual curiosity, helping them to reach their academic potential and become successful students.

My Project

Students will actively engage their own desire to learn when provided with a variety of hands-on resources. Students will be able to understand the past and reinforce their knowledge through exciting books and fun educational games that can be utilized independently or with fellow classmates. These resources will allow students to explore Illinois and the United States without leaving our classroom. Students will remember the U.S. Capitals, find out how our country was formed, learn about important United States symbols, visit key landmarks – both historical and natural, and learn all about the state that they live in - Illinois.

We need educational games, books, and center activities to bring history to life and excite my students.

These hands-on activities will help mold my students into the next geography wizards and history buffs. Please help my students see just how our great country has grown to be the place that allows us all to be unique individuals!
