Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you know how hard it is to come from another country and not know the culture of a new school?

My students come from all over the world.

Their primary language is not English. They speak Spanish, Creole, Hebrew, and many more. Here in Florida my students take the FCAT and I am proud to say that when they learn the language they do extremely well on the test.

My Project

In my school we have a reading program called Accelerated Reader, where the students read a book at home, in the classroom, or anywhere they want. When they come to the classroom or the library, they take a comprehension test and a vocabulary test in the computer. They receive points every time they take a test and they get the answer correct. In my classroom I have a bulletin board, that every time they get 2 points, they move his or her car up and they get a prize. The prize can be a pencil, eraser, ruler, coloring book, and puzzle book, anything that is school related. I would like to use the funds to buy materials for this outstanding program and continue increase student achievement.

This will help my students get more motivated in reading more books.

If they see the incentives they will be getting when they take a test they will want to read more and more every day. And student achievement and comprehension will increase.
