Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"The whole purpose of education is to turn mirrors into windows," Sydney Harris said, and my classroom is one huge window!

My school is over 90% free and reduced lunch and has an even higher percentage of poverty-stricken children.

Although many come from disadvantaged situations, it is my job to ensure that each one strives to do their best. Nearly all of my third grade students are learning English as their second language. They need extra interventions to help them learn English as well as maintain their native language. If you meet my students, you'd be sure to love everyone of them.

My Project

Technology is a huge part of our lives as adults but our children's lives as well. Apple has amazing APPS developed for educators and kids. Students can also record themselves reading a classroom book, use pod casts, read books and be able to search/recognize books by authors/titles. Many students know about these electronics yet have never had the chance to use one. IPod Touches can also be used to help increase parental involvement on parent nights at school.

Your help will go to students who lack things that many of us take for granted. This technology will help brighten a day, providing exposure to something new and exciting! Learning can be fun and it is in our classroom!
