An Explosion Has Taken Place!

My students need interesting chapter books such as "Horrible Harry" and "Flat Stanley", geared towards the interests of the boys in my classroom who often have a more difficult time finding their "niche" in reading.

My Students

There has been an explosion of learning in my classroom and the students are tearing through my classroom library at an exhilarating speed!

My students are special beyond measure and this is actually the second year we will be together.

Last year in First Grade we grew together and learned so much so we "looped" together to Second Grade. They are a group of 17 eclectic, wonderfully unique students. They are respectful,thoughtful, intelligent and lovers of learning!!! They strive each day to learn something new which usually occurs during our reading time.

My Project

My students need interesting chapter books such as Horrible Harry and Flat Stanley, geared towards the interests of the boys in my classroom. We've moved on to Second Grade and my reading library is not filled with enough challenging books for this grade level. My boys have begun to exhibit a love for reading and pick up books whenever they have free time! I need a variety of books that will engage my male students and keep their interest in reading alive! At this time they are beginning to read longer chapter books from specific series that I do not have in my classroom library. These books will be used in the classroom and will be available for checkout to my students.

Boys as a group often become less interested in reading as they grow older.

My goal is to create lovers of reading in all of my students but to really reach out to my male students with this selection of books. By providing these books to students they will be able to practice strategies learned in class with books that interest them! Please help engage these students!!
