My Students

Hooked on technology, hooked on learning for the future. Students in my classroom are learning academics through the use of technology. My students are excited to come to school to practice what they have learned in math, reading, social studies, and science through the use of technology.

My students attend a public school and consist of several ELL students along with a few Learning Disabled students.

A few of my students are reading 3 - 4 years below grade level. There are 31 students currently in my class. The majority of these students have been affected by the recession through the loss of jobs and homes. On top of this, I have several students in my classroom who have attention disorders and/or behavior problems.

My Project

Our children are growing up in a technology age, they know how to program telephones, download music and games onto Ipods, beat computer games without a struggle. We need to be able to keep our students interested in learning the basics, and what better way to do this than grabbing their attention through the use of various technology tools, i.e. the responders. We use the responders in the classroom in several ways: 1. for taking tests, 2. answering trivia questions after learning a concept, demonstrating graphing. Students are developing reading skills by reading the question, as well as each one of the possible answers. Once I have the students hooked through the use of technology, I can take them even further in developing their skills. Technology is the way of the future, and we need to get our children ready for that future.

Everywhere we look, technology is there, it changes overnight, becoming better and more advanced.

If we prepare our children to be ready for that future, they will be ready. Teaching academics and critical thinking goes hand in hand with technology. Why not take the step to help out our future, by providing batteries for our responders, so that you can say you helped at least 31 students head in the right direction.
