My Students

These smiling second graders are eager to learn more about the Internet since many do not have a computer at home. We have access to many wonderful sites that encourage and promote stronger reading skills. Having a extra computer would also allow students to learn the art of blogging!

Many of the students in my room do not have a computer or the Internet at home.

The 2 computers that we are currently using have been retired from our computer lab and are shared among 19 students. These computers are very popular among the students who use them for everything from searching for rhyming words to looking up information about animals. This year we will also be learning how to blog, and use the computer as a writing tool.

My Project

At the start of the school year, many second graders do not have experience with the Internet. Either they do not have a computer, access to the Internet, or their computers are so old it is difficult to work. They need to learn how to safely and securely operate a computer under the supervision of a teacher. This year we would like to encourage the students to learn more about how a computer works, and open them up to new opportunities. A laptop will give students the opportunity to learn safe technology methods. Plus, this will give me the opportunity to teach a small group of children how to blog and use the computer as a writing tool.

Your help will make it possible for these students to learn how to safely use the Internet under the supervision of a teacher.

They will learn computer terminology along with kid-friendly sites. Please help us to surf the web!
