My Students

When given the opportunity students will exceed everyone expectations. Idle hands can be the devil workshop; therefore, I would like to give my students the opportunity to make a change in their own lives.

My school community consist of 80% below poverty students where 90% are on free lunch and are unable to afford membership fees and meet basic school needs.

Over the years crime has increased and student interest in school has decreased. Under new leadership, we are trying to turn the school poor test scores, low attendance, discipline problems, and lack of community and parental involvement around.

My Project

Instead of giving the students money, I would like for them to involve their community with a FBLA Membership Drive Fundraiser. The students will learn the value of hand work, dedication, and walk away with a sense of pride by achieving a specific monetary goal. This will allow them to pay their membership fees and transportation to their first competition. With the materials we can set up a table throughout the community to sell candy and display the benefits of FBLA. Students will learn about business skills in areas such as public speaking, marketing, and entrepreneurship. Through fundraisers they will make connections to the business world and form networks that will last a lifetime.

FBLA is a national association of millions of students interested in becoming successful in the business world.

Many will be given the opportunity to attend conferences, travel outside their limited community, meet a diverse group of people, make new friends, and experience hotel stays.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
