My Students

Do you remember when you were a very young child? Before you could read, perhaps your parents or grandparents read stories to you. You might have even had a story that you were excited about telling. I want to create a center that will allow my students to tell stories, and also act them out.

I teach first grade children (academically high and low) in a high need community in Middle Georgia.

Very young children invent characters, scenes, and stories, and are usually quite creative during storytelling. As we begin to read, I want to create a center where the students can record movies of themselves as they use Reader’s Theater. The recordings will be stored and available to be viewed by small groups at the center.

My Project

The Reader's Theater center will consist of a laptop computer, books and stories (some written by the children), and costumes that can be used for different characters in the theater. Providing this opportunity will help students with comprehension, fluency and expression, as well as learning to use technology.
