Little Sharks can Read Too!

My students need a classroom set of Spanish Alphabet books.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work at a school with 98% free and reduced lunch. This means that our poverty level is very high. Most of my students come to school without ever having held a book. They don't know their letters and their vocabulary is very low.

Even though my students are faced with these circumstances, they are eager to learn to read.

I have 50 students in my A.M. and P.M. class. These little sharks want to devour all sorts of books that are in their way. I want to empower them to be able to read books too.

My Project

These Spanish alphabet books will help my little kindergarten sharks feel successful as they read their first picture book. They will acquire new vocabulary that they need for success while learning their alphabet and sounds. With your help, these books will touch 50 students every year for many years to come.

It is very important at the kindergarten level to put books in student's hands.

These books are perfect for my students because even though my students can't read when they come to school, they will feel successful when they read these books. These books will cultivate a love for reading that will help students become even better readers.
