My students need 28 various non-fiction and fiction books to explore during our unit on pumpkins.

The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go. -- Dr. Seuss In my classroom, I want my students to learn to love books.

My class is made up of first grade students who don't speak English as their first language.

Therefore, picture books and language experiences are very important for my students to gain knowledge about unknown topics. We are a title one school, and we don't have many resources. These books will provide my students with authentic practice in literacy and science activities.

My Project

I am requesting various fiction and non-fiction books about pumpkins. This is one of our units that we will be studying this year. My students will be using these books through many experiences including read-alouds, shared reading, and independent reading and research.

These books will provide my students with many enjoyable experiences with pumpkins.

My students love to listen to read-alouds and revisit the text and pictures afterward. These books will help us do that.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
