This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I tell my Second Grade students that reading is an adventure. Books can open a new world of possibilities for young children; they can go to outer space, sail across the sea, and discover unfamiliar creatures.

My students love to read books.

The problem is that I don’t have enough books for my students to read. It would be a great asset to our class if we had access to a variety of books. Having these books would enable my students to use their imagination and increase their reading fluency. I want my students to develop a love for literature.

My Project

I would like for my students to have access to fictional stories from different reading series and chapter books such as; Step Into Reading, I Can Read, and Junie B. Jones. I am also asking for two reading fluency resource books such as; Hi-Lo Passages to Build Comprehension and Increasing fluency with high frequency words. These books will help my students increase their reading fluency, and reading comprehension skills.

Please, help my students by providing them with access to literature that they will truly enjoy.
