Technology in the works!

My students need a projector to show presentations created to the entire class.

My Students

Technology is changing everyday, and it is so important my students are exposed to as much technology I can give them. Currently I only have two laptops in my classroom, but NO way to show the students anything they create other than looking at a laptop or 28 inch t.v.

Many of my students come from single family households and have a very limited amount of availability to learning anything about technology.

My students love learning and researching on computers, but get easily frustrated because we have no way to present anything in my classroom other than on a 28inch t.v. Many of my parents are unemployed, so asking them for money doesn't happen because they have to focus on the basic essentials for their family. I always have over 50% in my classroom on free/reduced lunch and I have every year had to help them with school supplies. My classroom is over 70% African American and/or English Language Learners. My students truly care and so interested in active learning, and technology I have found engages them so much that many of them don't want to stop the lesson. Our school, focuses on Positive Behavior and encourages all to stay positive, even when many of the students are struggling with so many outside problems. I truly enjoy teaching them!

My Project

I currently only have two laptops in my classroom, would love more and/or a Smart Board, but we do have a computer lab and I try to utilize this as much as possible. I would love for my students to catch up with the surrounding districts where those students have the opportunity to learn/research/present through technology everyday with the above resources in their classroom. Having this projector would be an asset to help the students learn, research together and present! Students work in the computer lab, creating letters, power points and researching pictures for many of our Social Studies lessons. However, saving these on a USB and then showing it through my t.v. isn't very effective, because the screen is too small!. Having a projector hooked up to a laptop, I could use my Active Inspire which engages the students in all areas ad the students can present everything they discover and/or create to the entire class. My students will learn technology daily, and love it!!

I have discovered the importance of students working together and using technology is so important for the students in today world's.

I do not want my students to fall behind many other students in other districts because I do not have the resources in my classroom we could all use on a daily basis! Students love "hands-on" and having this projector hooked up to a laptop will get them learning in a whole new way and discovering the many things that technology has to offer.
