This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Read, Read, Read, that is what my first grade teacher use to say, and she was right!

My students are socially and economically challenged.

Their parents hardly would buy them books to read a home. In the school, they are a minority so the resources are limited. I believe in my students; they are smart and curious. They are willing to learn all the time and I know in my heart that they will have a great future if they have someone who would believe in them!

My Project

An adequate classroom library could be a key for the reading success. Having access to a variety of books every day will give my students the chance to practice independent reading and also to develop a special interest and love for reading, making reading a joy will be essential for their future.

There are many things I can say in favor of having a classroom library which all of you might now already, but I want to tell you my personal experience.

Once a parent told me, "Please don't send me any notes home, because I don't know how to read." I was a 1st grade teacher, I said OK, I will let you know about the important things. But one day I saw my student reading all the notes to his Dad. I could see the surprising face of his father and I saw the future on this kid! BE A PART OF THIS!
