My Students

My kindergarten students are very curious. They love to discover new things and share what they learn. Just think of all the stories they'll have to share with others after a day filled with interactive puppet play. It will help build their oral language skills, and of course create new friendships.

I teach kindergarten in a school that has is comprised of mostly English Language Learners.

The majority of my students receive free or reduced lunch. Many of them have very little in the way of material things, but they have a desire and an appreciation for learning. My students are ready to learn and excited about school regardless of their home environments. It is up to me to make their first year of school fun and provide opportunities to enhance oral language skills.

My Project

Super-enticing story kits will provide students with interactive story props and will allow them to re-tell a story in their own words. After a few weeks in kindergarten students not only love to hear stories, but they begin to tell stories in their own words. I'd love to put storytelling puppets and interactive story props in the hands of my students, so they could act out these stories with a partner. This way, the children could independently practice their story telling and comprehension skills and become actors and actresses in their own classroom! With your help, these kindergarten students will be practicing story fluency and expression.

This drama station would be the first of its kind in our school.

No one in our grade level have these types of materials. With your help you will, make this drama station a reality and provide a love of books and the arts for years to come.
