My Students

"All of us Will learn." This is the motto of my classroom. As a teacher, it is important to me to explore as many avenues as possible to lower students math anxiety. Utilizing technology in the classroom assists with this because it allows them to partake in nontraditional math lessons.

My students attend a school were 90 percent of the population receive free-reduced lunch.

Despite their socioeconomic status, they strive to excel academically. Recently the school underwent an accreditation review. The review team cited lack of technology as an area of concern. When asked if they felt prepared for post-secondary endeavors, they stated yes except in the area of technological knowledge.

My Project

I would like to design my lesson plans to be more consistent with that of those at the post-secondary level. I want to instruct utilizing presentation software and have the ability to share relevant websites with my students during the lesson. Acquiring a LCD projector will allow me to do just that and much more. We will have the opportunity to watch videos that are streamed from the Internet and take virtual field trips. The students will also have the opportunity to present projects to their peers. This allows them to gain practice on software and hardware, that otherwise would be limited.

Resources, such as the LCD projector, help to close the achievement gap.

Students who graduate from urban schools too often enter post-secondary institutions ill prepared and unable to compete, not because they are not as brilliant, but because they went their entire academic experience without exposure to material, due to lack of resources. Donations from donors, like your self, will allow them to compete and put their best foot forward as they take it techno.
