ABC's Music & Me- Part 3

My Students

I have 500 Kindergarten-5th grade students in Kansas. I try to find new and interesting ways to help my students learn using music because it is highly accessible for all students especially those with physical and cognitive challenges.

The "ABC's Music & Me" program will help all students learn using music, but will focus specifically on students with multiple disabilities.

We'll sing our way through the ABC's with "A is for Alphabet" to "Z is for Zoo" with this fun music program.

My Project

Our weekly lessons will include literature connections with children's story/song books, music and movement activities, quality music examples, & rhythm instrument activities. Students will also learn 6-10 songs and 2-4 chants and/or finger plays for each theme. Technology will be incorporated each week. All students will rotate through music centers to provide group learning that focuses on the theme. The theme boxes requested in this grant will be used for the music centers. I would like to get a total of 24 theme kits to be used throughout each and every school year. This grant would help us get 8 theme kits. This collection will help my students increase their knowledge of music while doing centers.

Your help will make it possible for my students to have several themed kits available for center time.

The themed kits and hardwood drum will be a re-usable tool that will benefit a very large number of students. In ten years time, they will be enjoyed by more than 5,000 students!
