Music Puts A Song In Our Hearts

My students need 4 classic CDs to listen to in the classroom along with 4 new instruments to add to our music center.

My Students

X is for xylophone! My students will be given the opportunity to know what one is and explore different rhythms on it through this project. I have 18 musically inclined pre-k students. These 3 and 4 year olds come to school for a full day program and music is a huge part of our day.

My students are being raised in a fast pace inner city.

Some of my students have young parents who are exposing the children to inappropriate music. The majority of my students can sing along with all of the hit music songs on the radio. My desire is to teach the children age appropriate songs and have the students sing along with classic children's songs. I want to students to explore different rhythms, and learn how to count with different beats.

My Project

I would love to increase my music library. I have music in my classroom on constantly. We are learning new songs during circle time, the music is on during center time, and even on lightly while the students are resting during nap time. I believe that music makes my classroom more relaxing and inviting. I only want a nurturing classroom for my young students. I would love the students to be exposed to interesting instruments like a xylophone and a rainstick. They could take turns playing them. I have also request maracas and tambourines which my students could paint and personalize. They could learn how to make their own songs and learn different beats. They could also bring them home and sing songs that they learned in school with their parents.

Music will put a smile on all of my 18 students' faces.

They will get a chance to be creative with rhythm and what a great opportunity they could have to make their own instrument that could be brought home. Music will always be played in my classroom daily as it is a huge part of the students development. Thank you so much for your consideration of this musical project.
