My Students

Many of my students are learning to speak, read, and write English. They speak a second language at home which makes reaching grade level goals more challenging. I want to give them more exposure to the world of literacy.

My students are eager to learn!

However, many of them are lacking exposure to literacy in their everyday lives. Reading and writing for many of them is a challenge. It is difficult for many of them to continue their learning at home because their families do not always speak English. However, technology excites my students and they enjoy the opportunities it provides.

My Project

I would like to provide my class with a listening center that will entertain, excite, teach, and inspire them! This listening center will help students with their reading by exposing them to fluent readers, new vocabulary and text elements, and stories that they would have otherwise been unable to read. The listening center will also help students feel more confident as they follow along with the reader.

This listening center is important to my students because it will help them become better readers!

It is essential that English Language Learners be exposed to auditory examples of the English language. With the technology I'm requesting I will be able to provide a balanced literacy environment for them to thrive in.
