My Students

"There is no must in art because art is free." - Vasily Kandinsky Apparently, Mr. Kandinsky has never been an art teacher in a public school system! Our art room may have a kiln, but our class cannot afford the supplies to purchase the materials that go in the kiln!

At my school, we have some of the most creative students I have ever seen in my career as an art teacher.

These ambitious students are willing to go above and beyond in the art room. Several students get to school thirty minutes early just to be able to create artwork. I am truly blessed as an art teacher to be able to work with these children!

My Project

If we are provided the supplies that are requested, children will learn that art is more than just drawing and painting. While the majority of my students enjoy pencil and paint as their favorite media, I would like for them to experience other types of materials as well. My hope is that glass is just one type of 3D media my students are introduced to this school year.

Just think...what if you had been able to create a glass plate while in elementary school?

Would you still have it? Probably so! Not only do I want my students to create a project that will last a lifetime, I also want my students to savor the process that comes with creating 3D art.
