My Students

Communication is the key to great teamwork! Deaf students need to be able to see each other to communicate.

My junior high students are deaf and hard-of-hearing.

They come to my classroom for science and are motivated and excited by the number of hands-on activities we do. They enjoy working together to solve a variety of science problems. The students communicate using American Sign Language so seeing each other is essential to their success.

My Project

The junior high classrooms are being moved to a new building. My students will no longer have a science lab to work in. Adding science tables to my classroom will give the students an area in which to conduct their labs. The science tables are sturdy and have a special top made for experiments. In addition, the students can gather around the tables easily which will allow for all the students to access to communication.

My students love to conduct experiments.

Science tables will provide the students with an adequate area in which to work. They will be able to see each to communicate thus building their teamwork and success.
