iFlip For A Video Camera!

My students need a flip video camera in order to further their learning in every subject!

My Students

Students were presenting group projects on various habitats and I was *trying* to record them using a digital camera of mine. Unfortunately, the digital camera only records for 30 seconds at a time and I was unable to record their presentations.

I teach first grade in a Title I elementary school in an urban district within Oregon.

My students are extremely diverse; in language, home life, background knowledge, and technological knowledge. I have 27 students in my class and we have about 85 students within all the first grade.

My Project

I would love a flip video camera to record students reading books and have them listen to their own reading fluency. I would use the video camera for recording instructions for playing math games with the students verbalizing the directions and showing how to play. We would use the video camera to record science experiments, class presentations, guest speakers, etc. In all, the camera would create a link between home and school in that I would upload the videos for families to watch.

Besides an increase in family communication, students' learning would be solidified by watching videos of themselves and their classmates discussing new learning, presenting projects and creating videos to teach others.
