My Students

When I was in elementary school math was a scary thing for me. I want math to be challenging, yet fun for my students.

Our school needs to improve our math scores this year.

Our school opened last year in a beautiful new building. We have very few supplemental materials, because we are new and opened at a time when there were many budget cuts. Student population is diverse and comes from middle to low income families.

My Project

Many students have a negative attitude about math. I want to inspire them to enjoy math. I can teach concepts, and the math games will give them a fun way to practice and strengthen those concepts. While some of the students work with the math games, I can work with small groups who need extra help. Math skills are essential to succeed in school and in life. My fifth graders will be moving to high school with more confidence in math if they can use these games to strengthen their skills.

Math is an essential part of everyday life.

Strong math skills help students succeed in school. Good math skills are necessary to prepare for so many jobs that are in demand in the world that we live in today. I want my students to leave my classroom well-prepared to continue their education and eventually pursue any career that might interest them.
