My students need 23 books that they are interested in and that are in their reading level.

My Students

Do you remember trying to find that perfect book in the library? Do you remember being disappointed when you didn't find the book you wanted? That happens to our boys because we don't have enough books on the topics they are interested in.

Our students are PreK through first grade.

They attend a rural school in North Carolina. There is only one public library in the county and it is 15 miles away. Our students depend on our school library for books. Our boys love dinosaurs, sharks, and sports, and we just don't have enough books on these topics that are also on their level.

My Project

The books that have been chosen are all books on topics that our boys love and want to read. They are the books that the boys are always asking if we have. These books will inspire the boys to want to read and visit the library. This will lead to our young boys being higher achievers in their school careers. These books would also allow teachers to build units around dinosaurs as well as sharks.

As stated before, our school is a rural school in North Carolina.

The school is high poverty, and due to the economic crisis there is not enough money for our library to purchase books for our students. Our students deserve to have new books and on topics they want to read. After all, schools need to inspire and make children readers. Having materials they want to read is one of the most important steps in loving reading and wanting to read.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
