My Students

Middle School students love to read, when given the opportunity to choose their own reading material. Unfortunately, my students have no library to use at school. My wish is to build a classroom library.

Most of my students have trouble obtaining reading materials to read for the simple pleasure of reading.

Because funds are very limited in our school system, they attend a small middle school that has no library. They are in 8th grade and work very hard to master the reading skills they need to succeed in life. They are required to pass a state test in order to advance to high school. This is a stressful undertaking. Reading books they choose will help them to practice the skills they are taught in class and to learn that reading can be enjoyable and relaxing.

My Project

Please help with this project! By donating, you will be inspiring middle school students to become life-long readers. Everything they do in life will be affected by their ability to read. All other academic areas are dependent upon being able to read. Their success in college is dependent upon their ability to read. Their success in life is dependent upon their ability to read.

This project will impact my students this year and for years to come.

Providing reading materials is the most important thing I can do for my middle school students. 8th grade is the last school year for formal reading instruction. After this year, my students will no longer be learning reading skills. However, they will be reading to learn for the rest of their lives.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
