This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember having to do your first oral report in front of your class? I have seen frightened students shake, sweat and break into tears when having to speak in front of their peers. A Panasonic wireless mic will allow every student's voice and ideas to be heard.

Most of the students in my class are immigrants from the Dominican Republic.

They live in a high poverty area in New York City and are remarkably resilient. Many struggle academically, but they are enthusiastic and energetic. Our school is a K-8 school with a good reputation for moving students.

My Project

A Panasonic Mic set will be incredibly helpful in the classroom. Some on my most insightful students are painfully shy about public speaking. I want to create an environment that will allow these students to share their ideas and help build their confidence, to help these students overcome their fear and become confident public speakers. We will use the microphone set for our Socratic seminars, open mic poetry readings, oral reports and group presentations.

Becoming a confident public speaker opens up so many future possibilities for my students.

This is a skill that will help them for a lifetime. By donating to this project you will help open up many opportunities for these children and many other children for years to come.
