My Students

My listening corner is kaput! After years of patching together a listening center for my students, it can be done no more.

Our students live in an area in Michigan where many of their families have lost jobs or job stability is in question.

We experience quite a bit of transiency throughout the school year. Students move in for a bit then may need to move again because their family has lost their home or because mom or dad were fortunate enough to get a job. All that considered we do have a GREAT group of students! We strive to provide stability, support and a safe learning environment.

My Project

A listening center will provide our students a with another model for fluent reading. They will be able to listen to many stories throughout the year thus enhancing literacy learning. They will be exposed to many different book genres. They will also be able to practice their own reading fluency and comprehension.

Listening center materials will provide our students with another model of fluent reading as well as allow teachers the ability to work with small groups.
