My Students

Want to help students become powerful writers? Want to help students develop a love of writing and a belief that they are authors? Please help us start out our year with a tool that is essential for Writers Workshop.

My students are first graders who will come to me from having had a very strong kindergarten foundation.

Quite a few of my students will already be accomplished writers. Some will be on the brink of discovering their ability to be published authors. And, still others will be waiting to have their writing light ignited through meaningful and engaging mini lessons during Writers Workshop.

My Project

I am asking for help in obtaining a very basic classroom tool, a writing easel. In the past two years that our school has been open, my students and I have not been able to effectively do Shared Writing, Interactive Writing, or Modeled Writing due to not having a writing surface/area that everyone could see and that could hold a large chart tablet. With a writing easel, we could make the most of our Writers Workshop time by having a centered area in which to write and learn essential writing skills from each other.

This project is important in that it will help me to inspire a love of writing in my students.

It will help students to effectively share their thoughts and ideas and to learn about writing from not only the teacher but from each other.
