My Students

Wanna see the bacteria growing that we collected from the school water fountain faucet in our petri dishes? What about the fin of a goldfish magnified, up close and personal?!

My students come from a very low income, high need area, most of which get little inspiration and support for their education from their families.

My students get very interested and excited about discovering Science concepts through the hands-on experiments and investigations conducted during class time. Due to their lack of previous exposure, many concepts are brand new to my students and all the more exciting! However, because of a lack of supplies and tools, my students' exposure and opportunities to participate in hands-on activities is still limited.

My Project

My students are in need of materials for hands-on experiments and investigations, as well as scientific tools and supplies. The Science tubs will provide students numerous opportunities to investigate Life & Earth sciences in a hands-on, small group approach. The bacteria growing petri dishes will allow students to create and conduct their own experiments in real-life situations and surroundings, while the microscopes and slides will allow them to not only visualize concepts during discussion, but also to see specimens up close and personal!

Because Science often becomes an afterthought to Math and Literacy programs, the budget for Science materials is slim to null.

Please help further my students' interest in Science by donating hands-on activities, supplies and tools. Help Science class "come alive"!
