Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students visited NASA & were amazed that the first men to go to the moon did so with less technology than we possess today. My students are eager to study the math & science principles behind flight.
My students are inner city children.
Many do not venture farther than their own neighborhoods. In many ways, the trips they undertake with the school are like trips to the moon. Our campus has been completely re-built. Last year was our first year in our new school. I established the Engineering Agency in our school to give students the opportunity to take full advantage of the new technology on our campus.
My Project
With the kind donation of the rocketry materials we are requesting, my students will study, master, & apply the principles of flight. The students will take these skills with them & pursue future careers in the areas of science & engineering.
Two launch dates will be established for the upcoming school year. One in the Fall & the last in the Spring. Students will meet twice a week to study the concepts behind flight & the scientists that discovered these principles.
I remember the pride our country felt when we unveiled the Space Shuttle Columbus.
I would like to re-instill this pride into my students. My students will come to learn that with a firm understanding of science & math, any dream will be possible.
