My Students

I remember when I was a student, how much fun and excitement our class had simply by using our own white boards for class activities. Little did I know, that "fun" was actually my teachers' ways for learning and assessment.

Students today, no matter what location, are still motivated by hands-on activities that allow them to be creative and independent.

My music students love to learn, make music, play games, and get involved during class time. Unfortunately, even my students understand that when paper comes around, it means practice, homework, or a quiz.

My Project

The resources that I am requesting are individual music staff lap boards. It is my hope that these lap boards will do three things. First, they will allow my students more hands-on activities in class, including games and individual practice of concepts. Second, it will allow me, as the teacher, to better assess my students' learning by assessing more frequently through the use of easily accessible lap boards. Third, it will save our entire school and music budget money on printing costs of worksheets.

In general, I find as a music teacher that there are so many concepts that should and can be taught, but many times I either run out of time to get to everything, or feel as if I don't have a decent grasp on my students' level of learning.

I hope that these lap boards will allow me better opportunities for assessment, which in turn will allow me to cover more material because I will know sooner and better how my students are learning.
