My Students

The Internet is a powerful thing...so powerful that many students are not learning the "old fashioned way" of looking up information.

I teach at an elementary school in rural Kentucky.

For the 2010-2011 school year, I will be teaching fourth grade. My team is departmentalized, so in addition to teaching my homeroom spelling and grammar, I will also be teaching social studies to approximately 100 bright minds each day. My students come to me from a variety of backgrounds, but they are all eager to learn!

My Project

My classroom has a handful of very used dictionaries and thesauri, along with some very outdated atlases. I would like to teach my students how to find information without relying on the Internet to find it for them. The new dictionaries and thesauri would allow there to be enough copies for each pair of students to have a book to share. The new atlases would allow my students to look up information without having to ask me what the USSR is!

I believe in teaching my students a variety of viewpoints and methods for doing things.
